Troubleshooting Invites & Sharing

Having issues with workspace invitations or password sharing? Find solutions to common problems here.

Invitation Email Not Received

The most common issue with invitations. Here's what to check:

For the invitee:

  1. Check spam/junk folder — Look for emails from AmnPass or noreply@amnpass.com
  2. Check the correct inbox — Make sure you're checking the email address that was invited
  3. Check in-app notifications — If you already have an AmnPass account, the invitation appears in your dashboard
  4. Wait a few minutes — Sometimes email delivery is delayed

For the workspace owner:

  1. Verify the email address — Check for typos in the invitation
  2. Resend the invitation — Go to Workspace Settings → Members → Pending and click "Resend"
  3. Try a different email — If they have multiple addresses, try another one

Existing Users See In-App Notifications

If the invitee already has an AmnPass account with that email, they'll see a notification badge in their dashboard — no email needed.

Email Address Mismatch

Error: "This invitation is for a different email address"

Why this happens: Invitations are tied to a specific email address for security. You must accept with the exact email that received the invitation.

Solutions:

  • Log out and log in with the correct email address
  • Create a new account with the invited email if you don't have one
  • Ask for a new invitation to your preferred email address

Invitation Expired

Error: "This invitation has expired"

Invitations are valid for 7 days for security reasons. After that, they become invalid.

Solution:

  1. Ask the workspace owner to send a new invitation
  2. Accept promptly this time

Pending Share Request Not Visible

"I was told someone shared something with me, but I don't see it"

Check these things:

  1. Correct workspace: Use the workspace switcher to select the workspace where the item was shared
  2. Notifications: Check the notification bell/icon for pending requests
  3. Email: Check your email for a share request notification
  4. Already accepted? If you already accepted, look in your vault items

Common Mistake

Share requests are workspace-scoped. If you're viewing your Personal workspace but the share was sent in your "Work Team" workspace, you won't see it until you switch.

Can't Share With Someone

"I'm trying to share but the person doesn't appear in the list"

Reasons this happens:

  • Wrong workspace: They're not a member of your current workspace
  • Invitation pending: They haven't accepted your workspace invitation yet
  • Different workspace: They're in a different workspace than the one you're viewing

Solutions:

  1. Check the workspace switcher — are you in the right workspace?
  2. Go to Workspace Settings → Members to see who's actually in this workspace
  3. Invite them if they're not a member yet
  4. Wait for them to accept if the invitation is pending

Wrong Workspace Context

Many issues come down to being in the wrong workspace. Here's how to fix it:

  1. Look at the workspace switcher in the navigation
  2. Verify it shows the workspace you expect
  3. If not, click it and select the correct workspace
  4. Retry your action (sharing, viewing items, etc.)

Security Tip

Workspace isolation is intentional. It prevents accidental sharing across different contexts (work vs. personal). If you're having trouble sharing, double-check you're in the right workspace first.
